Trending Tuesday: Neon Brights

Happy Tuesday! Glad to be back since I haven't blogged in a week.....due to the common cold and other health related issues. I really do hate being sick in the Summer, these past few days has been really nice out and I have been stuck in the house under a blanket (due to our air conditioner cutting on and off) taking cold medicine. Anyway, I'm back today with a trend that's going to make me feel better and shine bright! Neons, oh how this is such a popular color trend right now!

I'm seeing it everywhere and on everybody if I must say. The neon colors pink, green, yellow and orange are coming in almost every form of clothing and accessories. I'm gradually growing on this neon yellow, I just purchased these pair of ankle pants from The Limited which you will see in an upcoming outfit of the day post soon. The neon colors are very vibrant and are great for the Summer, here's a side note, Neon's always reminded me of sherbet ice cream for some reason. I love how blogger Rachel of Pink Peonies below wears the neon colors...

What do you think about neon colors? Are you going to be wearing them this summer?
The finale of the 10 Key Pieces blog series will be this Thursday and Friday so make sure you tune in!!

10 Key Pieces....A Denim Jacket

Photo Via Here and Here
Happy Tuesday! We're on Key Piece #8 and its A Denim Jacket! The denim jacket has been around for quite some time just like the chambray shirt. A denim jacket goes with any and everything and I would say its a classic staple piece. I've found that the best denim jackets are the fitted ones. It should not be too tight and it should not be very loose either. Just like skinny jeans, denim jackets can come in many washes from light to dark. It's totally up to you on what suits you best! Check out below how I have styled a denim jacket in past blog posts...

:: Key Piece #8 A Denim Jacket ::

A Denim Jacket can be worn all year round and is a great layering piece. In the Spring/Summer roll up the sleeves and in the Fall/Winter wear with chunky scarves for added style. A Denim Jacket can instantly change your whole wardrobe to chic and fabulous! A great denim jacket also contains some form of spandex (stretch) in it, so you are able to move around freely. Good stores to find a quality denim jacket would be Old Navy, Gap, Kohl's and Express.

:: What To Think About When Buying A Denim Jacket ::

Fit - How does it fit in the arm and back area? Are you able to cross your arms?
Fabric - Does it contain stretch (spandex) or is it 100% cotton? Do you like the wash?
Details - Are there pockets on the outside? Buttons...etc?

If you own a denim jacket, how do you like it? What do you wear it with?

10 Key Pieces...A Structured Bag

Photo Via Here and Here
Happy Monday! If you're new to the blog, I'm doing a mini blog series on 10 Key Pieces That Should Be In Your Closet, you can check out past posts here. Today's Key Piece is a Structured Bag! You should have at least one medium to large structured bag in your closet. I have quite a few, that's just my thing! I love large structured bags because it can hold my planner, business papers, flat shoes, clutch and anything else I want to put in it. I have this one structured bag from Aldo that is perfect for the office, its also my go to when I go on trips. The Hubby always picks at me when I carry a structured bag because he thinks I'm carrying the whole house in it! So not true though!! :) See how I styled it below...

:: Key Piece #7 A Structured Bag ::

Structured handbags can come in many sizes and can instantly polish up your look. If you're the one to have loose papers flying around or things to get lost once it goes in your bag, a structured bag will fix that instantly! Structured handbags are a boxier shape that usually has a lot of pockets and compartments.

:: What To Think When Buying A Structured Bag ::

• Fit - How does the bag compare to your size? Is it too big or too small?
• Details - Does it zip, snap or have a twist lock?
• Fabric - Is it stain resistant? Is it durable?

Stores that usually have great structured handbags are Target, Aldo, and The Limited.

Do you own a structured bag? If so how do you like it?

P.S. How do you like the new header/design updates to the blog? There's more to come!!

10 Key Pieces...Skinny Jeans

Photo Via Here and Here
Happy Thursday! Today's Key Piece is Skinny Jeans!!! I love skinny jeans and I must say its a trend that grew on me because before the skinny jean revolution I was straight boot cut and flare denim all day everyday. Skinny jeans are great because they are fitted, show off your curves, goes with most types of shoes and can come in many different colors. See how I styled my skinnies below...

:: Key Piece #6 Skinny Jeans ::

The one thing I love about skinny jeans is that I can roll them up (cuff them) in the Spring/Summer and tuck them into boots in the Fall/Winter. I love wearing them with ballets flats and heels too! I've found that the best skinny jean to purchase are the ones with stretch (spandex) in the material. All of my skinny jeans are from The Limited and Gap, they're jeans are cut for "real women" body sizes and not a smaller junior cut. If you are going to add skinny denim to your closet I would say start off with a dark denim wash and migrate to the color washes.

:: What To Think About When Buying Skinny Jeans ::

Fit - How does the denim fit around your waist? Are there any gapes? Can you move around in them? Can you get them on without help...funny but a serious question you must ask yourself!
Fabric - Does it contain stretch (spandex)? Is the fabric wash right for you?

What do you think about skinny jeans?

Trending Tuesday: Maxi Skirts

Happy Tuesday! Oh how I'm obsessed with maxi skirts right now!!!!!! Maxi skirts are a really great alternative to maxi dresses, with a maxi skirt one can style it with a button up top just like blogger Clare of Clarabelle see below....

Or with a fitted tank and jacket for a more chic look...

Maxi skirts can also be worn with T-shirts, Blazers and Denim Jackets. Here's a Style Tip: Add a belt to your outfit for a more defined waist line and for a boho chic look! Maxi skirts are perfect for the summer and can transition from season to season. I've had my eye on a few from my favorite shopping stores so you'll definitely see some outfit posts on how I styled it in the near future!
